Biosolids
Biosolids
Biosolids are defined as the decomposed solid waste after sewage sludge has been treated chemically and organically at the sewage treatment plant. The potentially harmful bacterium or microbes that were in the untreated sewage sludge are no longer present. The microbes are removed via pasteurization, which uses high temperatures to kill the microbes along with drying out the Biosolids, which results in what is known as Class A Bio-solids. The resultant Bio-solids are rich in nitrogen (fertilizing component), and are safe for use in both landscaping and agriculture applications.
Landscaping applications include flower gardens, flower beds, vegetable gardens, trees and fruit bearing plants. Bio-solids can be handled and applied just like any other fertilizer.
The Upper Montgomery Joint Authority offers their biosolids FOR FREE and are available at the wastewater treatment plant in any quantity desired as long as supplies last.
UPPER MONTGOMERY JOINT AUTHORITY’S FERTILE FUEL is highly processed fertilizer and contains more than 50% organic matter. Natural organic fertilizer is the original slow-release fertilizer that many synthetic slow-release fertilizers strive to mimic. This product also features a very low burning potential, micro nutrients and a large amount of organic matter. Natural organic fertilizers typically have a large amount of water insoluble nitrogen (WIN); that is, the nitrogen, along with other nutrients, remains slow-release and are minimally affected by watering or rainfall.
Natural organic fertilizers are exciting because of their diversity and flexibility. This fertilizer can be used in a variety of applications and in combination with other fertilizers. The attributes of both natural organic and synthetic fertilizer can be combined to create a superior product.
